About CNC Machining
CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) processing means computerized digital control processing. It refers to that the processing technology route, process parameters, tool movement trajectory, displacement, cutting parameters and auxiliary functions of the processed parts are written into the processing program sheet in accordance with the instruction codes and program formats stipulated by the CNC machine tool. The program sheet is input to the CNC device through a carrier and a control signal is sent to control the machine tool to perform actions, and the parts are automatically processed.
CNC processing achieves one-time accuracy and shape for the parts, and better solves the processing problems of parts with complex contours, high precision, small batches and multiple varieties. It is a flexible and efficient automated processing method, often used for sample trial production and small batch production during the scientific research and product development stages.
The main processes of CNC processing

Milling refers to the processing process in which the workpiece is fixed and the multi-edge tool rotates and cuts to gradually remove materials from the workpiece. It is mainly used for the processing of contours, splines, grooves and various complex plane, curved and shell-shaped parts. The size of the milling blank can reach 2100x1600x800mm, and the positioning tolerance can reach ±0.01mm.

Turning refers to the cutting process in which the workpiece rotates and the turning tool moves linearly or curvilinearly in the plane to achieve the cutting of the workpiece. It is mainly used for the cutting of internal and external cylindrical surfaces, conical surfaces, complex rotary surfaces and threads of shaft or disk parts. The diameter of the turning blank can reach 680mm, the positioning tolerance can reach ±0.005mm, and the surface roughness of mirror turning is about 0.01 – 0.04 µm.

Turning-milling compound refers to the cutting process in which the milling tool rotates and the workpiece rotates to achieve the cutting of the workpiece. The workpiece can complete multiple processes in one clamping, which can avoid the loss of accuracy and reference caused by secondary clamping. It is mainly used for the processing of large quantities, high precision and more complex parts.
The characteristics and advantages of CNC processing
CNC processing is suitable for processing parts that are complex, have multiple processes, have high requirements and require multiple types of ordinary machine tools and numerous tools and fixtures, and can only be completed after multiple clampings and adjustments. The main objects of processing include box-shaped parts, complex curved surfaces, special-shaped parts, discs, sleeves, plate-shaped parts and special processing, etc.
Complex manufacturing: Relatively complex processes or those difficult to complete on ordinary machine tools can be arranged on CNC machine tools, and unique and continuous, smooth curved surfaces can be processed with one clamping.
Automated manufacturing: The CNC processing program is the instructive document of the machine tool, and the entire processing process is carried out automatically according to the program instructions.
High-quality manufacturing: CNC processing has high efficiency, high precision, high quality and strong adaptability to different workpieces.
Stable manufacturing: The performance of CNC processing is stable and the operation is easy.
The materials for CNC processing
The materials suitable for CNC processing are extensive, including stainless steel, aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, titanium alloy, copper, iron, plastic, acrylic, etc.
The surface treatment of CNC processing
Most of the products processed by CNC need appropriate surface treatment to increase the hardness, corrosion resistance, etc. of the products, thereby increasing the service life of the products and enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the products. The commonly used surface treatments mainly include the following:
Chemical methods: oxidation, electroplating, painting
Physical methods: polishing, wire drawing, sandblasting, grinding
Surface printing: pad printing, silk screen printing, water transfer printing, coating, laser engraving
